Studio update COVID 19
Hello Guys,
This is my latest studio update concerning COVID 19. Hope you’re staying safe and well. Just an update about how my alterations to the studio are coming along. Lots of you are wondering when I’m going to be up and running again. After a chat with my landlord, I decided to take the decision to take up the carpet, and the velvet fabrics, from the floor of the studio, and install vinyl flooring, so it’s safer for you when I get going again.
Replacing carpet and velvet fabrics for vinyl floor
In June the 6th, I went to Carpetright, and ordered some rather lovely floor vinyl. I hadn’t heard anything from them. Having chased them up three times, I’m glad to say that they delivered the vinyl today as arranged. I’m concerned that many of you are looking for massage now, and I obviously want everything to be ready. Thanks to some help from my brother, the main studio area is now re-covered. I just have the bathroom, bay window area and area by the door to do tomorrow morning (10th July).
The vinyl looks rather lovely, as you can see in the updated picture below. It’s easy to keep clean and sanitised, making it as safe as possible after the advent of the COVID outbreak. It’s given the studio a lovely, fresh new look. I reupholstered the ottomans, and the vibrant red fabric compliments the floor rather nicely, adding to the plush appearance to the room.
I should be up and running with massage again on Saturday July 11.
Redecorating and painting
I’ve been getting on with lots of redecorating, so using the time wisely, before they delivered the vinyl. it.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been finding the whole lockdown and social distancing really difficult to cope with, on top of recently losing my Mum, who sadly passed away in early March aged 87.
I’m methodically going through everything, re-upholstering certain items which I use for head support during a massage, so that it can be safely cleaned and sanitised, so that, at all times, I’m constantly aware of your concerns around my preventing this nasty little micro-organism getting it’s claws into anyone. Any matt paint on walls has now been covered with a vinyl silk finish, making it wipe clean, and if necessary, easy to sanitise.
Non-contact Infrared Thermometer
I’ve got hold of a Thermo Scan. A Thermo Scan is basically a non- contact infrared thermometer, so I can use it to check the temperature of your forehead when you arrive. It’s particularly accurate, and has 3 temperature range indications. It’s green, when the temperature is normal, amber if someone might be running a slight fever, and red if you might have a high fever. This will be used for everyone’s safety. It looks like this:
It has a range of temperature settings, based on what it finds when it scans your forehead.
I have also got hold of some face masks. There are probably those of you who might be concerned enough to want to wear them. With the amount of research I’ve been doing about face masks, there appears to be no conclusive clinical evidence to suggest that face masks are effective at preventing a wearer contracting the virus. It does, however, suggest, that wearing them, if infected, might be able to prevent its spreading. So I guess it’s going to have to be played by ear.
My best advice, like everyone else’s, is that, if you feel unwell, don’t go out. If you should have symptoms, then be responsible and self-isolate. Touch wood, I haven’t shown any symptoms of it, nor contracted it. For that, I’m extremely grateful. Because I have COPD ( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, particularly, asthma), I do need to be rather careful, and take every precaution I can.
I’ll be up and running on Saturday, July 11th
I should be pretty well ready to go on July 11th. I have just three small, but awkward areas to cut and fit the vinyl to fit, then it needs a run of silicon around the edges, and adhesive where there are any joins. Then, I have just a few more things to prepare, which will be done for Saturday. I’m sure I’ll be able to manage open way or another.
In the meantime, look after yourselves, stay safe and well, and try and spend time being as creative and healthy as possible during this trying time.
Kind regards,
Steve
